The new Cheshire League season kicks-off on 29th July.

With the 2023/24 season starting at the end of the month, new 1st team manager Jon Hudson is preparing for a very busy few weeks as he looks to build a new squad ahead of the new Cheshire League campaign.

Hudson took over following the departure of Leo Kirk after a hugely disappointing 22/23 season which saw Mersey Valley win only four league games and concede 97 goals.

The 47-year-old has Cheshire League experience with Poynton and Cheadle Heath Nomads and is looking forward to the challenge at Banky Lane.

“I knew as soon as I spoke with Dave Wood that this was going to be an exciting project for me and we’re all determined to get this side moving. I’ve spoken with players from last season and there is some real quality in that group and with the new players we are looking to bring in we are very confident that we can achieve our goals for the season”.

Hudson has brought in a brand new coaching team, Ryan Wilkinson (Assistant Manager) and Chloe Selby (Physio) have been confirmed so far with more announcements expected this week.

“We have a lot of big decisions to make over the next two weeks, we want to confirm a 22-man squad for the season so it’s going to be a very busy spell, we have to get this right so we will look at all aspects before we start to announce the squad”.

Pre-season starts with a trip to face Garswood United Reserves on Saturday, 2 pm kick-off.
